Day Programs for Your School

 

Day Programs are a chance for children to explore ecology, natural history and Ohio history, either in Cuyahoga Valley National Park or in the classroom.  Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association and the National Park Service provide Day Programs for a wide range of ages for students from public school districts, independent and religious schools, daycare centers and preschools. All programs are tied to Ohio Academic Content Standards for the recommended grades listed.

SKIN AND BONES (This program can travel to your school!)
Find out how different Ohio animals are adapted for survival by examining pelts, skulls and tracks.  Recommended for grades 1 - 3.  More...

While helping operate a working canal lock and hiking on the Towpath Trail, students will learn about the history and importance of the Ohio & Erie Canal. Recommended for grade 4. More...

Uncover clues to what lives in a local field and forest. Learn how both of these natural habitats change with time. Recommended for grades 5 - 7.  More...

Learn what’s living beneath the surface of a pond. Understand how these organisms depend on each other for survival. Recommended for grades 5 - 7.  More...

ROCKIN’ AT THE RUN
Hike along Haskell Run to the Ledges looking for evidence of how geologic forces have shaped the landscape and what environments formed the rock layers. Recommended for grades 6 - 8.  More...

NATURALLY DIVERSE FIELD TRIP PACKAGE
Learn about biodiversity here in Ohio! The series begins with preparatory activities in your classroom, followed by two programs in the park. Students will visit pond and forest habitats to experience the variety of life that makes up a healthy ecosystem.

Unpopular animal characters bemoan their unfair reputation with children. Learn the positive traits of bees, bats, earthworms and spiders through science, craft and music. Recommended for Pre-K - Kindergarten.  More...

Animal puppets discuss their feelings about winter and learn what changes spring will bring. Recommended for Pre-K - Grade 1. More...

REALLY BIG ROCKS
Step into a wondrous place of huge rocks, evergreens and moss. A hike below the Ledges is always special. How were these rocks made? Do they change?

WHO’S HIDING
Who lives in these woods? We’ll search together for animal homes, tracks, scat and other signs of forest critters. These clues reveal how animals survive in the woods.

PROGRAM FEES
Single programs are $6 per student.
Naturally Diverse Field trip package is $15 per student.
