Day Programs

Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association and the National Park Service provide Day Programs for students in northeastern Ohio from public school districts, independent and religious schools, daycare centers, and preschools. Day Programs are educational experiences for preschool, elementary, and secondary classes offered throughout Cuyahoga Valley National Park and at area schools. These programs explore a variety of topics from ecology, natural history, and Ohio history. Program availability and fees are subject to change without notice. Educational Package
A combination of classroom and park visits to maximize educational experiences and better meet state academic content standards.

  • Naturally Diverse
Learn about biodiversity here in Ohio! The series begins with preparatory activities in your classroom, followed by two programs in the park. Students will visit pond and forest communities to experience the variety of life that makes up a healthy ecosystem. Grades 2 to 5




Single Programs

  • Nobody Likes Me
Unpopular animal characters bemoan their unfair reputation with children. Learn the positive traits of bees, bats, earthworms, and spiders through science, craft, and music. This program can also be held at your location. Grades Pre-K to K


  • Winter Blues
Animal puppets discuss their feelings about winter and learn what changes spring will bring. This program can also be held at your location. Grades Pre-K to 1


  • Really Big Rocks
Step into a wonderous place of huge rocks, evergreens, and moss. A hike below the Ledges is always special. How were these rocks made? Do they change? Grades Pre-K to K


  • Who’s Hiding
Who lives in these woods? We’ll search together for animal homes, tracks, scat, and other signs of forest critters. These clues reveal how animals survive in the woods. Grades Pre-K to 1


  • Skin and Bones
Find out how different Ohio animals are adapted for survival by examining pelts, skulls, and tracks. This program can also be held at your location. Grades 1 to 3


  • Among the Trees
Uncover clues to what lives in a local field and forest. Learn how both of these natural communities change with time. Grades 5 to 7


  • At Water's Edge
Learn what's living beneath the surface of a pond. Understand how these organisms depend on each other for survival. Grades 5 to 7


  • Ways of the Whittlesey
Discover the culture of these and other American Indians who once inhabited this region. Practice your hunting skills, grind corn, and listen to American Indian stories.This program can also be held at your location. Grades 3 to 4


  • Low Bridge Everybody Down
Students will view the small scale canal lock demo inside the Canal Visitor Center and hike on the Towpath Trail while learning about the history and importance of the Ohio & Erie Canal. Grade 4


  • Rockin’ at the Run
Hike along Haskell Run to the Ledges looking for evidence of how geologic forces have shaped the landscape and what environments formed the rock layers. Grades 6 to 8


Program Fees
Single programs $6 per student. Field trip packages are $15 per student.
Limited Scholarships are available.
Surcharge applies for programs more than 30 miles from CVEEC.
A minimum of $120 will be charged for "Nobody Likes Me" and "Winter Blues" and $60 for all others.
One free adult for every five students. Program availability and fees are subject to change without notice.
